Trichogramma achaeae is an endoparasite that develops inside of Tuta absoluta eggs. The parasitic wasp searches Tuta absoluta eggs to parasitize among the leaves. In addition, the adult of Trichogramma achaeae feeds on eggs of Tuta absoluta.

  • *New: TRICHOcontrol Dispensing balls. Compostable packaging that provides greater protection for Trichogramma achaeae pupae in the crop until emergence. It allows for a higher number of release points.

RECOMMENDED DOSE

Release rates for low infestations range from 125,000 to 250,000 individuals per hectare with weekly introductions. For more severe infestations, use between 250,000 and 500,000 individuals/ha.

  • Card: It is recommended to release from 1 to 2 cards (50-100 dispensers/ha). The pest is successfully controlled with fortnightly releases during the flight season of Tuta absoluta. For stronger infestations use 2-4 cards/ha.
  • Dispensing balls: introduce at the first flights of Tuta absoluta, at a preventive dose of 1 to 2 boxes/ha every 2 weeks. When pest pressure increases, the dose can be raised to 2 to 4 boxes/ha for curative applications.

The dose varies depending on the crop, the season, the weather and the level of infestation of the pest. Consult an Agrobío field advisor.

CROPS

TRICHOcontrol is used in tomato crops and also several horticultural, ornamental and fruit crops where Tuta absoluta is affecting.

USE

Release the product uniformly early in the morning or at sunset in both indoor and outdoor crops. If the product format is in cards, separate the cards and arrange them in the crop leaving enough space so that the pupae can work uniformly and control the pest.
