APHIDOcontrol - Aphidoletes aphidimyza

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT

Aphidoletes aphidimyza is a mosquito from family Cecidomyiidae, and its larvae control effectively the aphids from family Aphidae. The A. aphidimyza lays its eggs on plants that have a high population of aphids, in the underside of the leaves. When the larva of Aphidoletes aphidimiza finds the prey, it injects a toxin into it and eats the aphid 10 minutes later.

RECOMMENDED DOSE

Release  5 – 10 ind/m2.

Dosage can vary depending on the crop and the level of the pest. Consult the recommended dose with an Agrobío field advisor.

RECOMMENDED CROPS

Aphidoletes aphidimiza is used in several horticultural, ornamental and fruit crops.

USE

Before opening the bottle, set it horizontally and rotate it to mix> the content.

Apply it in a release point adapted to favorable conditions for the emergence of adults. This release point will be a polystyrene box with a hole of 2×5 cm on each side. Subsequently, introduce peat and moisten it with a water sprayer. Next, spread the material from the Aphidoletes aphidimyza bottle on the peat. Finally, cover the polystyrene box and leave it in a shady place near cereal lines inoculated banker plants with specific aphid or near aphid hotspot.

If ant colonies are present in the area, hang the box from the grid, using fishing line to prevent the ants from using it as a bridge, approximately 10 cm from the ground.

PRESERVATION

Keep the bottle horizontally and at a temperature of 10-15ºC. Do not break the cold chain in all the transport and storage process. Do not store the product after 48 hours of receipt, and never expose it to >sunlight or pesticides.
