Bumblebees and pest control

Protocols must be strictly respected to ensure a successful pollination with our bumblebees. The use of chemical products that could harm the hive must be avoided.

However, an adequate pest control can be performed in the presence of hives by means of integrated pest management strategies, using biological control organisms and/or selective chemical products with little toxicity and persistence.

Check the web or download our App for Android to see the side effects and pesticides compatible with the hive. If in doubt, ask your technician.

There are three categories of products depending on the effects they produce:

  • Compatible products: it is recommended to close and cover the hive during the treatment and open it when the crop is dry.
  • Incompatible products with little residual effect: the hive must be removed temporarily from the crop. Place back each hive exactly to the same place it was and with the bumblebees exit hole in the same direction.
  • Incompatible materials with much residual effect: these products can not be used together with the hive.
